About the Illustration

A princess sits alone beneath a flowering tree, her jewels and small casket laid on the ground beside her. Her dark, star-patterned drapery contrasts with the pale landscape and delicate pink blossoms above. The quiet pose and open space give this illustration a reflective, gently melancholy character.
