About the Illustration

A woman in flowing pink drapery rises through green-blue water towards a man clinging to the side of a wooden boat. Red jewels scatter across the surface, echoing the colour of her dress. The curved movement of the fabric and the soft reflections create one of Goble's most lyrical water scenes.
