About the Illustration

Beneath a sky scattered with stars, a prince approaches a veiled woman beside an ornate palace gateway. Goble sets their encounter against delicate pierced screens, flowering branches and the dark silhouettes of slender trees. The restrained blue palette gives the scene a quiet, nocturnal charm.
