About the Illustration

A camel waits in a quiet street while its seated driver smokes beside a small fire and another traveller approaches. Decorative harness, pink saddle bags and the pale silhouette of a distant palace bring colour and depth to the scene. A distinctive subject combining travel, animals and everyday storytelling.
