About the Illustration

A princess with exceptionally long dark hair sits upright on a patterned bed as a young visitor addresses her. Pale arches and pierced windows frame the scene, while the vivid pink coverlet and carefully drawn vessels add rich decorative detail. The contrast between flowing hair, textiles and stonework gives the illustration much of its appeal.
