About the Illustration

A pale, translucent figure moves through a richly furnished bedchamber, its flowing blue draperies spreading across the dark interior. At the left, a sleeper lies beneath the curtains of an ornate bed, while arched windows and patterned wall hangings complete the setting. Goble uses muted purples, browns and cool blue to create an atmosphere of mystery. The contrast between the substantial furnishings and the weightless apparition gives this scene its particular visual interest.
