About the Illustration
A woman in a richly ornamented crimson sari stands beneath a flowering palace arch. Warm pink masonry, delicate foliage and small golden fruits surround the figure, while the shadowed doorway lends an air of mystery. A particularly decorative example of Goble's treatment of costume and architecture.
