CRANE, Walter. Flora’s Feast: A Masque of Flowers.

Cassell & Company Limited, London, 1899.

Quarto. Original green cloth-backed pictorial boards, decorative floral endpapers and 40 numbered pages lithographed throughout in colour.

“Penned & pictured” by Crane, the book transforms the seasons into a theatrical procession of personified flowers, combining hand-lettered verse with Arts and Crafts design, Aestheticism and early Art Nouveau.

With the engraved armorial bookplate of Pegge of Stoney Stanton, Leicestershire. Loosely inserted is the original 1963 invoice from Percy Dobell & Son, recording its sale with The Masque of Days to A. H. Packe of Tile House, Burnham, Buckinghamshire.

Exceptional condition, with bright boards, vivid illustrations and only minor age-related marking.
