First Edition, First Printing. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1952.
A true first edition, with the requisite first printing dust jacket (featuring the brown tint printing on the flaps and the blue-tinted author photograph on the back, and without mention of the Pulitzer or Nobel Prize). The Scribner's "A" and copyright seal are present on the copyright page. Bound in the original blue cloth with Hemingway's signature blind-stamped on the front cover and the title in silver gilt along the spine. The linen pages are clean, with some expected toning for the age of the book. The binding is square and tight.
The original first edition dust jacket, now protected in a removable clear sleeve, exhibits moderate wear and chipping, as well as evidence of a price clip (please see photographs). A highly desirable collector's copy.
