Artwork dimensions: approx. 47 x 47 cm
Framed dimensions approx: 66 x 66 cm
A decorative and finely executed set of four gouache-on-paper paintings in the style of renowned Chinese-American artist Ting Shao Kuang. Each composition features an elongated female figure rendered in richly patterned robes, against luminous and expressive backdrops. The works echo the Yunnan School aesthetic, merging traditional Chinese influences with modernist and Art Deco stylisation.
Believed to date from the 1950s, one piece is initialled “W.G.F.”, while the others remain unsigned. Together, they offer a cohesive visual statement with early interpretations of Ting’s celebrated style.
Each work is framed in gilt-edged wooden mouldings with linen-textured mounts and gold filets, providing an elegant and unified presentation. Titled Birds of Happiness, Keeping Peace, Lady Playing Harp and Phoenix Lady.
